California: Leading The Race To Renewable Energy.

California Renewable Energy.

Californiais a renewable energy powerhouse leading its path towards cleaner energy future. California has been declared as the golden state and leads the nation in renewable energy. CA Governor Jerry Brown announced an energy proposal according to which the state will seek 50% of its electricity from renewable sources by the year 2030. California is the only state with a mission to establish itself as a clean energy leader in the world.

Do you assume that California has taken lead because it has plenty of sun, and wind to power the houses with solar energy? No, its the forward thinking to save our planet and replacing the dirty energy into clean energy. The state is more environmentally conscious and want to get reliable on renewable energy. The state has the better future vision to create a bright future with renewable energy.

Due to climate changes there has been global warming and a rise in the temperature. Therefore, the only solution to save our earth is that our future energy systems should consists of renewable energy technologies used in combination of wind, solar, geothermal and fuel cell energy. California’s energy department recently conducted a survey that has resulted that using 50% of renewable energy, and implementing 600 GW by 2030 was feasible.

Plan To Transform The Electric Grid.

There is strong support for cleaner energy also because it can support job growth, reduce pollution. The clean energy business to the state bring a transition to a cleaner state that represents working people and the environment. The transition to an electricity grid that will run on 50 percent clean resources means a 50% reduction of non-renewable resources such as fuel. California has the smarter environmental policies to protect our environment and has become the leader to accomplish the goal of cleaner state.

The plans and policies that are being set to completely transform the electricity grid, unfortunately, has little effect to what it is currently planning to consume in terms of renewable energy. The state aims to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions to 80% below 1990 levels, by 2050. However, it is the goal that has been set, but Earthjustice will keep pushing the policies to increase the grid’s reliance on renewable energy, and energy storage.

Although California is increasingly moving towards its targets of a fossil-free electrical grid, but many challenges have shown that lot is to be done to accomplish the goal. For example, a recent proposal issued by SCE to buy more power with additional dirty fossil fuel than needed. With Earthjustice’s continuous promotion to purchase less fossil fuels in order to save our environment from pollution will help reduce the purchases.

There are significant obstacles to transform the electric grid, but the targets set by the California Public Utilities Commission, the legislature, and the governor has made quite a good progress. With a strong National clean power plan to increase the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency California is definitely targeting its goal to accomplish.
